Packing Tips

Reminders For Your Move

• To Help avoid confusion please use colour coded stickers to identify your cargo (White - Sea, Blue - Air, Green - Storage, Red - Don't pack).
• Instruct your packing supervisor by walking him through your house, pointing out any special requirements.
• Bottle and liquid containers must have lids firmly screwed down to avoid leakage.
• Leave unwanted goods aside. These can be given to a local charity shop.

happens!!!

General Tips On Packing Your Own Goods

• Do not overfill the cartons. This may cause damage.
• Spread heavy items evenly throughout the cartons
• Fragile items should be packed separately or in the middle of the carton using packing materials or clothes as padding.
• Flammable products, liquids or any other materials that may escape  and damage other cargo must not be packed.
• Leave fragile/expensive items for the professionals to pack.
• Make a comprehensive packing list for customs.

Electrical Goods

As some countries have different mains voltages/frequencies, check beforehand that all your electrical items are suitable. Check that your TV or VCR is compatible with the frequencies used at your destination. Fridges/freezers must be defrosted at least 48 hours before packing. Washing machine drums must be firmly secured. Loose accessories must be removed from cookers and microwaves.
